Our Mission Statement:
CASTLE BREITENBACH is dedicated to preserving and presenting the
artistic legacy of T. E.
Breitenbach. It is certain to entertain, inspire, and educate all
who visit. Study his famous and humorous "Proverbidioms" paintings
and other exhibits, tour his hand-built castle and studio, and
explore the beautiful grounds with its artistic stone walls,
gardens, woodland trails, and 40' waterfall. Have a family picnic!
We also host an array of events, including school tours, workshops
on many topics, rotating art shows, live music, new theatrical and
film presentations, artist's residencies, and more. To start things
off, we are opening a sculpture trail this Summer featuring the work
of many wonderful artists. |
UPCOMING EVENTS
CHECK BACK
this Spring and Summer for upcoming events at the castle. We will
hold a couple of free stonewall building workshops again. Also,
an open studio and art gallery day in the Fall. AND we give free
tours, by appointment, for small groups, such as seniors, students,
etc. We also offer the site for filming of music videos and movie
scenes.
THIS JUNE will be the official opening of our new
sculpture trail, Sunday afternoons, from Noon until 4 through Labor
Day. We are still collecting
sculptures, so if you know a sculptor or have some outdoor
sculptures you might like to part with or loan, please connect with
us! |

HIS MUSEUM IS NOW
a fully recognized 501(c)(3) charitable public corporation. The artist has created an
irrevocable art trust, so that the castle, artwork, and property will, in
stages, all be part of the art museum, art center, and land preserve. IN THE MEANTIME, while the artist
and his wife still occupy the castle, we hope to be able
to raise funds to put up a separate museum building so that the paintings and other
collections can be fully open to the public in the near future. We will open the
sculpture trail to the public this June 2025.
We already have works from renowned artists, and many more sculptures are
promised. We also conduct workshops on the grounds and in the artist's studio this
summer.

CAN YOU HELP? We seek generous art
patrons to help
us accomplish building the separate museum building and visitor's center. (See the plans below).
We
would be glad to dedicate the building to a patron and put up an honorary wall.
We will also be applying for art grants for such a purpose. IF YOU CAN HELP in any way, please contact us, or send your
suggestions.
T
WOULD BE A GOOD PLAN, to also build a pavilion in which to hold workshops,
music concerts, plays, and arts and craft shows. We will host castle tours
on special days throughout the warmer months and to school groups throughout
the year. In this way we will begin to generate public excitement, enhance
our reputation as an arts center, and help us earn our Absolute Museum
Charter from NYS.
IF YOU CAN HELP fund the museum
building, would like to be on the board of directors, volunteer, or be
interested in creating a sculpture for the sculpture park, please contact:
Thom Breitenbach, at (518) 861-6054 (landline)
or by email at tebreitenbach@msn.com.

MAPS & PLANS
Ideally, a separate museum building can be built in the next
couple of years. This will safely house the paintings and
events, allow the public access to the collections (even
while the castle is still occupied), and qualify us for an
Absolute Museum Charter. Here are some suggested plans.
