Mary Pat Wager - Bio and Artist's Statement
Mary Pat Wager has been a sculptor for over thirty years. Her work
is included in many public and private collections. Her sculpture
employs the use of found objects, as well as, fabricated metal
components.
Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally. She has
received numerous awards for her work in sculpture. These include a
National Endowment for the Arts grant and representing the United
States with her work at the Small Works International Exhibition in
Budapest, Hungary.
"My work is that of
assemblage. I allow for a selective but all-inclusive collection of
items to become my visual voice. The serendipitous act of collecting
becomes a history of my existence. Where from and how items were
added to my visual inventory is the story of my life.
"I find it interesting to work with the visual residue of various and
disparate objects that are traditionally non-art materials. I enjoy
the challenge of changing their story to my story, preserving and
altering their history and allowing for the interplay of visual and
psychological relationships.
"Autobiographical snapshots or glimpses of an image from memory are
what interest me.
"I work with objects that each viewer will experience differently. My
intent is to appease my own vision, and in the process, perhaps
provoke a reaction in the viewer." CONTACT INFO:
