Artist's Statement
"I have never considered myself a sculptor. I am best know as a
painter for works such as Proverbidioms, for building a
castle, and for Hieronymus, A Musical Fantasy, a musical I
wrote which can be viewed on PBS.
Of course, I have been working with stone for decades, including
building the castle, and some very artistic stone walls and
constructions about the property, which are not a part of the
sculpture park at present. And I did carvings as a teen, on various furniture
pieces I made. The castle, my artwork, and 50 acres (including a
40-foot waterfall), are in trust to be a museum and preserve and
will be fully open to the public in the future and until then, for
occasional events, workshops, and open studio days. In the meantime,
we are off to a good start thanks to the fabulous donations and
loans for this sculpture park! We thank the generosity of our very
talented artists!
I have obtained a lot of scrap metal, and will try my hand at
some abstract, welded sculptures for the park. I am also posting
funny signs all about (as I am best known for the humor in my
paintings). I want this park to be unique in its own way, and for
everyone to leave here with a smile! Thanks to Jeff Grippin for
his welding skills and his artistic eye.
